macOS Hints: Privacy Preferences

macOS

Since some time there are settings in macOS for privacy. These allow or block applications to access information such as location, contacts, calendars, reminders, and operating aids.

Merlin Project requires access to contacts, calendars and reminders.

The following steps will ensure that Merlin Project is enabled for access:

  1. open the system settings.

  2. click on "Security" and then select the "Privacy" tab.

  3. select "Contacts" from the sidebar. In the list to the right you will see all applications that have potential access to the contents of the Contacts.app.

  4. check the box for Merlin Project

This will allow access to the contacts from Merlin Project, repeat the steps also for Calendar and Events if you want to use them from Merlin Project.

More about privacy preferences can be found directly on the Apple website.

Hint:

If you want to make your project anonymous before sending it to our support, you can use the Merlin Obfuscator. Merlin Obfuscator will create a copy of your file, in which processes, resources and attachments are renamed, financial data is changed and media is removed, so that no security risk can occur.
