Team Building Activities Are Important

…also for decentralized working teams

ProjectWizards does not have a classic office building, we work all over Germany, each at a location of his choice. All the more important are the team meetings that take place once a quarter, where everyone comes together in one place. Not only do they work together.

We are also happy to spend our time with joint activities, such as having a barbecue bowling, karting or curling. Sometimes it's just a visit to the Varité or the Christmas market or a nice walk to the restaurant for having dinner together. Especially since we lack the coffee or tea kitchen due to the decentralized work, such activities are important as a team.

But of course this is not only true for us here at ProjectWizards, but also for all companies and industries in general. Here are a few reasons why team building is so important:

  1. Permits better communication
    Activities that generate discussion enable open communication between colleagues and between employees and management. This can improve office relations and thus the quality of the work done.

  2. Motivates employees
    Team leadership and team building go hand in hand. The more pleasant it is for employees to express their ideas and opinions, the more confident they become. This will motivate them to face new challenges.

  3. Promotes creativity
    If you take a team out of its familiar office environment and expose it to new experiences, they force you to look beyond the end of your nose. Working with other team members can inspire creativity and fresh ideas, which is a good way to get them back into the office.

  4. Develops problem-solving competence
    A crisis can occur at any time. Teambuilding activities where employees need to work together to solve problems can improve the ability to think rationally and strategically. Teams that are able to determine when a problem occurs and know what they can do about it can then effectively take responsibility in the event of a real crisis.

  5. Crosses the barrier
    Teambuilding increases the confidence factor for your employees. In many companies there is a separation between the management team and the employees because the employees feel that there is too big a gap between the two. Team building exercises give managers the opportunity to be seen as colleagues rather than bosses, which can have a positive impact on employee morale.

Overall, team building in the workplace enables better communication, better relationships and ultimately increases productivity.
