Resource Leveling

Resource leveling resolves overloads of resources. If a person or a piece of equipment is assigned more tasks than their capacity allows, activities are shifted in time or stretched until the utilization stays within the available range.

The leveling can push the project end further out, because overlapping tasks are now completed one after another. To do so, it uses existing buffer times and prioritizes critical activities. The goal is a plan that is not only logical, but also actually feasible in terms of staffing.
