Constraint

A constraint is a fixed requirement that limits the flexibility of the planning. Typical examples are a fixed start date, a deadline that cannot be moved, or the condition that an activity must not begin before a certain date.

Constraints keep the planning anchored to real-world conditions, but they can also create conflicts when they contradict the logic of the dependencies. They should therefore be set sparingly and deliberately, so that the plan can respond flexibly to changes.
