Can a task be split across a column? That is not possible, but there are two ways to still implement recurring tasks in Merlin Project.
There are 2 methods to create recurring tasks:
1. Group recurring tasks together
Create a task and manually add the recurring tasks as subtasks.
Using the start date, distribute the subtasks within the group. If the interval between the tasks remains constant, link them and remove all dependencies. Then, enter the time interval as a buffer. Collapse or expand the group as needed.

2. Use the detail view
Another way to manage recurring tasks in Merlin Project is through attachments. Select a task and open the menu "Insert > Attachment". Then click on the "Event" attachment. In the detail view, record all events associated with the task.
