Merlin Web Module

Merlin Web Module

Starting with Merlin 2.6, you can now collaborate with MS Windows and Linux users using a supported web browser. Here how it works:

By web publishing your Merlin project file, using Merlin 2.6, you allow non-Mac users to use their web browser to view, manipulate and save the published Merlin project file over the office network or the internet. When you publish you project file, Merlin acts like a web server serving the project file just like any other web server on the internet.

Clients can view, edit, modify and save their changes to the published file using their web browser. Saved changes are committed to the published file immediately and are reflected on the screens of the other users. This allows for a real-time collaboration effort.

But the web module has a second feature: You can also export your files to HTML so you can upload them to a web server. The HTML export is great for sharing your project on the internet as a read only.

Merlin 2.6 ships with a demo version of the Web Module (15 minutes publishing interval - or in case of the HTML export, a 40 activities maximum). If you want to give it a spin, this howto will show you.

Here is what you need to publish to the web:

  • Merlin 2.6 or higher
  • Merlin Web Module ad-don license, which can be purchased from here.
  • Apple Safari 3 or higher (Mac OS X, MS Windows)
  • Mozilla FireFox 3 or higher (Mac OS X, Linux, MS Windows)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or IE 8 in compatibility mode
