Today we published another maintenance update for Merlin and Merlin Server. Here are the changes.
Resolved Issues in Merlin
- In combined projects, the utilization view was not refreshing under some circumstances.
- The resource’s cost accrual setting “at start” did produce the same result as “prorated”.
- Start dates of linked projects were deletable via the project link inspector.
- In Merlin Web Sharing, the default time zone was not set to GMT, which resulted in wrong creation dates of elements.
- Fixed an issue in the licensing system for Merlin iPhone.
- The status attribute was not selectable from within the predicate editor for elements.
- The value for “Given Startmode” was not exported properly in CSV export.
- Some access rights on creating project files did not set correctly.
- The “Merlin Quick Guide” is now in French language as well.
- Some translation issues have been fixed.
Resolved Issues in Merlin Server
- Merlin Server brought an error message for port 7090 after some time of work.
- Merlin did hang on saving a master project with aliases on Merlin Server files.
- A crash could appear when all numbers of a port of a custom server were deleted.

Today we published another maintenance update for Merlin and Merlin Server.
New features in Merlin
- When exporting in CSV, you can now define in which time unit the duration fields will be exported. Available options are: Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks, Calendarweeks, Months and Years. They can be defined in the export dialogue. The same behavior is possible for the import.

A new Merlin and Merlin Server version, 2.7.4, is now available. Both updates are free downloads for license holders of Merlin 2 and Merlin Server 2
Important: You need to install Merlin 2.7.4 in order to use Mac OS X 10.6.2! Previous Merlin versions does not work with Mac OS X 10.6.2 and later.
New Features
- Added support for Mac OS 10.6.2.
- Added preference for including quick look previews in documents. With this the sizes of all templates are reduced massively.
- Adding AppleScript support for expected start and end dates.

Surely you are not surprised to read, that our developers are continually working on improving Merlin and its robustness. So a new Merlin version, 2.7.3, is new available as a free update on our updates page.

We are pleased to announce the release of Merlin 2.7.2 and Merlin Server 2.7.2 for MacOS X Snow Leopard. Both updates are available as a free download to license holders of Merlin 2 and Merlin Server,
or via the Merlin > Check for Updates… menu item.
What’s new in Merlin 2.7.2 (free of charge update!)
New Features
- This version is now supporting Mac OS X 10.6 “Snow Leopard”.
- Merlin Web: If a text column contains URLs, these URLs are now rendered as links. By clicking on them a new window/tab is opened and the corresponding content is shown.

Merlin 2.5.2 has been released into the wild along with many tweaks and fixes. Get it now while it is hot.
Change Log
New Features
- Initial beta version of the French localization added.
- In reports, users can define colors for charts or graphs in the options.
- There are now two new orderings for resource leveling.
- Implemented two separate modes for dynamic shifting. You can now specify, whether only the expected values should be dynamically shifted, or planned and expected values.
Changes
- If opening a remote project file did not work, Merlin now provides a better error description.
- Resource users are now allowed to have empty passwords.
- Activities starting on non-working times without a specified work value do not generate warnings anymore.
- The field “assigned resources” now reflects the actual ordering of the assignments.
- Some minor translation issues and typos have been fixed.
- The English and German Help files are improved.
Resolved Issues
- Some reports did not work correctly with combined projects.
- Under some circumstances Merlin could crash if the login dialog was canceled.
- If an activity group was separated into a linked project the resulting file could sometimes not be saved.
- The values in the field “Default Work” were not persistent.
- Linking a project under some circumstances wrongly modified the start date of the main project.
- Deleting linked projects could lead to exceptions.
- QuickLook previews were generated for password-protected files.
- Under some circumstances, activites could not start on certain working times.
- The report “Next Due Activities” did include groups.
- Warnings were even shown if they were turned off.
- In single page PDF export the outline header was wrongly placed.
- Under some circumstances actual values could not be cleared.
- For certain values, changing the “Given planned duration” was not possible.
- Activating a workspace did not correctly update the print settings if the print dialog had been opened before.
- Notes of linked projects did not show up in the inspector.
- Changing the resource initials did not update the “assigned resources” field in the Gantt chart.
- Finish-finish dependencies were sometimes wrongly allowed between summary tasks.
- Calendar exceptions could not be imported from .ics files.
