It has been a busy couple of days for ProjectWizards. Earlier this week Frank Blome and I taught a Merlin class here in San Francisco and it was a great success. We had Architects, Marine Biologists, folks from Apple, Google and a number of other companies. After some meetings yesterday we got set for the 2011 Macworld Expo to start today. (more…)

Once again this year ProjectWizards is proud to be a sponsor of Cirque du Mac at Macworld 2011!

Cirque du Mac is “the Greatest Party of the Year”. We’re going and we’d like to bring some Gantthead folks along. If you’ll be in San Francisco on the evening of Thursday, January 27 and would like to spend your night rocking out to the MacWorld All-Star Band while you watch the trapeze girl dangle from the ceiling, just send an email to party@projectwizards.net and tell us your Weapons of Choice as a Mac based Project Manager. We’ll randomly select 10 of you and provide you with a pass to attend the event as a guest of ProjectWizards. Take your chance for a beer with Dave Prior or Frank Blome!

In the latest Project Potion episode of Bas De Baar and Dave Prior, Dave Prior comments his visit to the MacWorld, the outcome of his intention to meet up with other PMs, and some new products he found there.
Our favourite quote of the episode is…
And I went out there with the guys of ProjectWizards, that is the company which makes Merlin, which is for my money, the best Project Management software on mac, because it is the only one that lets you enter separate values for work and duration, which to me is a huge deal being as I am a bit of a geek when it comes to making my project plans.
Enjoy the episode, there is so much more PM relevant information to find there. It is awesome! Watch it until the end, and you will know why we call it so

Macworld Expo kicked off today and even though Merlin is not presented in a booth our CEO, Frank Blome, is very busy in San Francisco taking with PMs from all over the world and doing last minute preparations for the Merlin co-sponsored ‘Cirque du Mac’ party.
We have read Jeff Gamlet’s post at the Mac Observer about the importance or unimportance of Apple’s absence at the conference. The author points out that:
Macworld Expo is about interacting with your colleagues, friends, session instructors and the companies that make the products we buy.
So it is an Expo for consumers and a special event for everyone taking place.
That’s all very nice and cool, but what we find most interesting is your opinion.
How important is Apple’s presence for you and how does it influence your decision whether to visit the expo or not?

Are you a PM and you are going to the Macworld? Our friend Dave Prior mentions in his blog that he would you like to meet up with you. Just send him an email with the words ‘Macworld PM Meetup’ as a first contact.
In case you’ve missed Dave Prior’s and Bas de Baar’s last Project Potion episode here you are. Enjoy:

Merlin is co-sponsoring ‘Cirque du Mac’. One of the best parties at Macworld…
…with real Mac people playing real live music, roaming clowns, tattoo artists and a Videator-powered light. Fancy a peek of previous years? Sure, there are plenty of videos available in the internet. Check here, here or here.
You cannot buy any tickets for this cult party. You may enter your ticket request online though and if it gets accepted you will receive an email.
Do you feel lucky? Join the mac observer’s Cirque du Mac 7.0 contest and hopefully win a pair of tickets.
You consider entering your ticket request and wait? We recommend you should try both ways!
Good luck!

One lays a bit longer in bed at Christmas, and finds the new year already in full swing when awaking. But wait. Our hibernation was not that deep, we simply granted ourselves a short break. 2009 was after all the most active year in our young history.
Directly on its begin, January 2009, we were in the Macworld and presented Merlin iPhone to the interested visitors.
In February 2009 the beta test of Merlin 2.7 started containing the new version of Merlin Web. A Merlin Twitter presence was also created, with over 750 followers meanwhile.

Richard Joerges, our colleague from the German blog, had the chance talking with Dave Prior and wrote a very interesting post here.
In case you happen not to know Dave Prior already, Dave is a PM for the past 15 years and has been volunteering for PMI since 2002. He has been on the board of the IT&T SIG since 2003 and was the Chair during 2008. Now serving out his term as Past Chair, Dave is also senior consultant at Valtech in the Transformation Services group – which helps companies who want to migrate to Agile.
